The incredible action-comedy TV series, Eagleheart, may be long over, but its characters aren’t so easy to forget. One of those is Susie Wagner, portrayed by Maria Thayer. Thayer is an American actress and comedian, who is also famous for her role as Abbey Logan in the American cable TV series, Those Who Can’t.
However, her big break began when she appeared in the cult TV series, Strangers With Candy, as Tammi Littlenut. Behind cameras, the forty-something-year-old is not known to have any children yet. Maria Thayer’s Biography
Maria Thayer was born—Maria Christina Thayer— in Portland, Oregon, on October 30, 1975, to a middle-class family of apiculturists. We’re not sure if she’s an only child. However, she spent the most part of her childhood in the small town of Boring, in eastern Portland where her parents ran a bee farm. While still young, little Maria moved with her parents to Minnesota. There she would begin life as a teenager.
Growing up, Thayer attended Apple Valley High School in Apple Valley, Minnesota, and was a member of the award-winning forensics program and the National Forensic League. Call her a brain, and you won’t be wrong. She was also a Homecoming Queen of the school. Following her graduation from high school, Thayer proceeded to the state of New York where she enrolled at The Juilliard School to prepare her for a professional career in acting.
Fresh from school, she launched her acting career with a role, Louise, in the 1999 film, Kimberly. She also appeared in the cult TV series, Strangers with Candy. It wasn’t long before her talents began speaking for itself. Thayer appeared in several other TV series including Cougar Town, Big Apple, Bickford, and The Education of Max. Perhaps the highlight of her career came when she starred alongside Hollywood bigwigs such as Will Smith and Eva Mendes in the 2005 film, Hitch. After Hitch, her next popular project came when she was cast as Wyoma—a new bride on holiday with her husband—in the 2008 film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The following year, 2009, she starred on an episode of the TV series 30 Rock. In the same year, Thayer she appeared as Sonia Baker, a researcher and the mistress of a congressman, in the film State of Play. Perhaps she is best known for her portrayal of Susie Wagner in the widely-watched Adult Swim comedy series Eagleheart. A role she played for the 24 episodes that followed after the series first aired on Cartoon Network on February 3, 2011.
While filming for Eagleheart, Thayer also appeared (in flashback scenes) as Tracey Bluth in the fourth season of the 2013 series, Arrested Development. Already a popular face in the movie and TV arena, Maria Thayer soon spread her tentacles into music videos. The first was in 2011, in Friends of Friends by Hospitality. The following year, she appeared in Nick Lowe’s Sensitive Man. Beginning in 2015, Thayer starred in the TruTV sitcom series Those Who Can’t.
In Those Who Can’t, she starred as a funnily incompetent teacher at a Denver high school, alongside actors like Adam Clayton-Holland, Ben Roy and Andrew Orvedahl (The Grawlix). By 2019, the show already had three seasons. In 2013, Maria Thayer also appeared as Rosaline in Delacorte Theater’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. It was in her proverbial line of duty she found love.

Although reportedly single today, Maria Thayer was at some point engaged to fellow actor David Harbour. Like Thayer, the American actor also has interests in television, theatre, and film. As of this writing, Harbour plays the lead role of Police Chief, Jim Hopper, in the Netflix TV series, Stranger Things. The highlights of their relationship came in 2016 when Harbour won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series; Stranger Things. But their love trail dates back to 2009, according to sources, when they first met on set. They went as far as getting engaged but suddenly called it off just when fans were keeping tabs for the slightest signs of a wedding announcement.
