Paula Deen Biography
Deen was born on 19 January 1947 in Albany, Georgia to Corrie A. Hiers and Earl Wayne Hiers, Sr. At the age of 19, Paula lost her father and her mother also passed away 4 years later. It was at this stage that Deen started her home-based catering business with her two sons serving as deliverymen.
Deen’s home-based business became a hit and she was forced to expand. So in January 1996, she opened her own restaurant called The Lady and Sons. Her exceptional work earned her the “International Meal of the Year” title from USA Today in 1999. Paula has also been featured on several television shows as well as 15 cookbooks explaining her methodology.

Paula Deen Husband
Deen married Michael Groover in 2004. Both have two children from their previous marriages. Before meeting her current husband, Paula was married to Jimmy Deen and had two sons (one in 1967 and the second in 1970). However, they separated in 1989 after marrying in 1965.
